The Last Supper

The Last Supper (Leonardo) - Wikipedia
Leonardo Da Vinci used innovative techniques to express the religious ideas in this painting. He tells the story of Jesus and his twelve apostles who are celebrating Passover according to the book of John in the Bible. This moment is when Jesus tells the twelve that one of them is going to betray him. Their expressions to the news are what is captured here. Each individual model reacts differently. The facial expression however was mimicked by real people who were deaf and mute. Da Vinci wanted their facial expressions to be what really gives life to this painting.
